Training

The Barkley offers a variety of obedience training courses designed to make any dog a more enjoyable member of the family. The Barkley Academy training programs are flexible for all breeds and all ages...and yes, you CAN teach an old dog new tricks!

Beginner Group Classes

Group classes consist of 6 lessons every Saturday at The Barkley Academy. Check with The Barkley's Front Desk for specific times and prices. Group class is recommended for puppies 16 weeks and older and includes:

  • Full obedience training on leash
  • Socialization with other dogs
  • Problem solving (potty training, jumping, barking, digging, pulling on leash and more)
  • Understanding your dog
  • Special techniques for calming your dog
  • Competitions at the end of every lesson for great prizes

Advanced Obedience Class

Classes designed for dogs that have graduated from one of our other programs, such as puppy-preschool, doggy overnight camp or a private lesson program. Group classes use the knowledge and commands previously learned to help dog and handler work around and through distractions. Each class is focused on the needs of its participants. Pre-registration is required.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are designed for puppies and dogs of all ages. We will come to your house and evaluate your dog and help with any issues. We will begin basic obedience instruction to develop the language between you and your dog. We will work with you and your family in the comfort of your own home and provide all the homework and training supplies necessary. Each lesson is between 1 and 1.5 hours depending on you and your dog.

Refresher Day Training

A great way for your doggie to get a "tune up" when day or night boarding or just visiting day camp. One of our trainers will take your doggie for training 3 times per day (45 minutes each time) and focus on specific areas your dog needs attention.

Training Packages

Package 1: 1 week of training (includes all boarding, day camp fees and a grooming.) At the end of the week, we will do a one on one private lesson with you and your dog at The Barkley.

Package 2: 2 weeks of training (includes all boarding, day camp fees and a grooming.) At the end of the 2 weeks, we will do a private lesson with you and your dog at The Barkley.

Package 3: 3 weeks of training (includes all boarding, day camp fees and a grooming.) - At the end, we will do a private lesson with you and your dog at The Barkley.

Full Doggie Camp 4-6 Weeks

Students of the camp will learn lifetime manners as we prepare them for specific situations that fit your lifestyle. The program is designed to make them feel safe, comfortable and happy. Your dog will also enjoy hours of playtime, make new friends in the beautiful, safe and supervised playground and even have fun at the dog beach. This program usually runs between 4-6 weeks depending on your dog and includes all the one on one lessons you and your family need to make the entire process seamless. Full Doggie Camp includes all boarding, day camp fees and a grooming. THE BARKLEY ACADEMY PROVIDES A LIFETIME GUARANTEE FOR ALL DOGS THAT GRADUATE THIS PROGRAM.

Initial Consultation

Clients are encouraged to schedule an initial evaluation with a training counselor in order to determine the best methods for success. Consultations are $25 and are applied toward the balance of any training service.
